Sheet Silver Solder
Your easy, custom-cut joiner for silver-metal magic.

Sheet form silver solder comes as thin-gauge, flat squares or strips of alloyed silver designed for joining fine or sterling silver components (and sometimes compatible with base metals). Because it’s in sheet form, you can cut the exact size and shape you need for the job whether that’s a tiny tab under a bezel, a full seam on a box, or a custom-shaped patch for repair.

How hobbyists use it:
* Stage your joins: Start with a higher-melting grade (hard) for the structural seams, then move to medium or soft grades for finishing so earlier joints don’t re-melt.
* Cut and adapt: Saw or shear the sheet to match your joint shape straight strip, little patch, or odd-shaped filler.
* Apply precisely: Place your cut piece at the joint, apply flux, and heat until the solder flows cleanly into the seam.

Clean finish: Because the sheet lays flat, you’ll often get smoother, lower-profile joints compared to bulky wire or chunk cuttings.

Why it’s a smart pick for hobbyists:
* Great for repairs (patching thin silver, reinforcing weak seams) and custom builds (making layered designs, hidden joins).
* You only use what you need: less waste, more control.
* Helps you maintain a clean bench look (fewer random scraps, consistent pieces).
* Gives you control over the join shape and size so you can tailor the solder rather than rely on “one size fits all” bits.

Silver sheet solder is sold as a 5dwt (1/4oz) sheet that measures 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 28ga thick.
This solder is cadmium-free.

SSSH = Hard (75% silver) = melt temperature is 1370 F and flow is 1490 F.
SSSM = Medium (70% silver) = melt temperature is 1265 F and flow is 1295 F.
SSSE = Easy (65% silver) = melt temperature is 1235 F and flow is 1260 F.
SSSXE = Extra easy (56% silver) = melt temperature is 1170 F and flow is 1190 F.
* Extra easy solder is often used in eye glass repair and has a slight yellow tint.

Note: This solder will NOT work with a soldering iron. A torch must be used.
