Silver filled wire is a superior product to silver-colored. It consists of a copper-alloy core surrounded by a layer of sterling silver. The silver filled has a layer of sterling silver rolled over the copper alloy that is hundreds of times thicker than silver plated.
Silver filled wire has a much higher perceived value than silver-colored wire. They still costs a fraction of sterling silver, and you work with it in much the same way you would with sterling. You can even solder it!
