Dead-soft, 14/20 yellow gold-filled round wire, is used extensively in jewelry making. It's ideal for creating jump rings, pendant bails, ear wires, loops and many other items. Dead soft wire is easy to bend, shape, and hammer. It's a good starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Hardness is changeable either by annealing or heat-hardening. When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take.
Gold-filled wire is made by combining layers of 14Kt gold alloy with a base metal. This gold-filled wire is 14/20. This means that 1/20th of the weight is 14 karat Gold. It's more economical to incorporate into designs than solid gold wire. It's also made in the USA.
The term “dead soft" refers to the stiffness of wire. It bends easily and will conform to almost any shape. Great for wire wrapping.
