Economy Steel Bench Block / Anvil
Not fancy. Just tough.
These economy steel bench blocks are the no-nonsense work surface your bench has been asking for. They’re not polished European precision anvils. You might see tooling marks or a bit of character right out of the casting, but they do the one thing that matters: give you a solid, flat surface for shaping, flattening, riveting, texturing, and pounding metal.
Use it for doming, planishing, bending, flattening or as a reliable partner under whatever you’re hammering, setting, or forming. The weight and solid steel construction keep your work from bouncing around, so your bench skills (not dimples in the block) do the talking.
In short: these blocks aren’t gorgeous, they’re practical. And for everyday jewelry, metalwork, and hobby projects, they get the job done without a fancy price tag.
This block measures 3-7/8" x 3-7/8" and is 3/4" thick.
It has a Rockwell hardness of 46-50.
*All of the bench blocks will have oil (or cosmoline) on them to prevent rust. You can degrease it if you like but just make sure you wipe it down after use and apply a little oil if you store it away.*
The hard, vulcanized rubber is excellent when a softer surface is needed. Flip it over to reveal the hardened steel block for flattening, chasing and stamping. The rubber base in removable if necessary.
