Swellegant Darkening Patina
This patina adds a green/blue-green patina to the the copper, bronze and brass metal coatings. It adds a rich rust oxidation to the iron coating. You will get the same reactions on metal objects. You can use it on raw brass or plated metal alone. You can apply it over Metal Coatings while they are still damp. It can also be applied over the dye oxides. You can apply with a sponge, light brush or by misting.
The patinas are fabulous on plated brass or raw, degreased brass. Just distress the metal a little bit, first. No prior coat is necessary. Patinas will bloom in 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the piece of metal and color of patina used. To stop the action of the patina product, simply rinse in cool water. This step is important. You will want to stop the process once you achieve the color of patina you desire.
This is a traditional patina product. It is slightly acidic so be sure to wear rubber gloves when you use this product as it may prove irritating to some skin types. Even keeping a box of wet wipes nearby would be a good idea.
Darkening patina is great for aging or darkening the Metal Coatings or cold cast/resin materials, yet it will darken all other metals as well. This patina adds a deep black-brown 'antiquing' look to the Metal Coatings and will create a beautiful transparent brown on iron and steel.
Once the piece has cured completely (6-12 hours) you may apply a clear, protective sealant.
Sold in a 2oz. bottle.
