The Fretz Metal Clay Stake Set with Wood Stand delivers the quality you have come to expect from Bill Fretz.
The nine Metal Clay Plastic Stakes are designed for metal clay. A plastic stake is chosen as a core for the metal clay to be formed on. The stand will hold the Metal Clay Stakes as the work is being modeled. Hollow domed forms are possible by working the shape on a Plastic Stake. Concave shapes can be textured or sculpted after the shape is removed from the Plastic Stake. Combining to domed shapes with clay slip will form a bead. Venting, by forming to string holes in the bead before heating, will allow the expanding gases to escape.
The Metal Clay Stakes can be filed or ground with a burs and your flexshaft for form different cores to work the metal clay over. The Stakes may also be turned with a miniature lathe to produce very small core shapes. The Plastic Stakes must not be carve with undercuts as this will make the metal clay snag as it is removed. Keep the core shapes smooth convex domes. If the Fretz logo is in the way as work is modeled, just file it off.
Using small tools to form and texture the beads or domed shapes will allow you to bring your own creativity to any project.
The set includes the wood base with a metal collar and 9 Plastic Stakes. The metal collar on the base can be used to firmly hold the stake in place while working.
